Accessible riding in the UK

According to Saddl's directory, there are 80 UK venues currently listed as offering accessible riding. These are yards equipped to support riders with physical, sensory or learning disabilities - with appropriate mounts, mounting blocks, side-walkers and instructor training.

Accessible riding venues in the UK range from RDA-affiliated centres operating purely with disabled riders, through to mainstream riding schools that accommodate disabled riders alongside other clients. The riding itself can be ridden lessons, lead-rein sessions or carriage driving - what matters is the equipment, the team's training, and the suitability of the horses. The Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) has roughly 450 affiliated centres across the UK; many but not all are listed here. The British Horse Society also accredits accessibility through its Changing Lives Through Horses programme.
