Equestrian Venues in Kent
Kent earns its Garden of England name on horseback as much as anywhere. The North Downs run east to the coast, the lanes through the hop country and orchards are quiet and well suited to hacking, and the bridleways are plentiful. Saddl lists 21 venues, and 14 are BHS-approved, one of the highest accredited proportions of any English county. That makes Kent an easy place to learn or return to riding, with established schools running structured lessons and a culture of doing things properly. Hacking is the everyday pleasure here, on chalk downland in the east and gentler Wealden farmland to the south. You'll also find competition yards and cross-country schooling inland, and beach riding in a few coastal spots. Being commutable from London, the county sees southern prices and busy yards at weekends, so booking ahead pays. For families, Kent is one of the better counties in the south east: a strong base of accredited schools, forgiving terrain to learn on, and enough variety that riders rarely outgrow what's nearby.
