Equestrian Venues in Surrey
Surrey is one of the strongest riding counties in the south, and the map explains why. The Surrey Hills run through the middle, the North Downs give height and views, and the bridleway network is among the best maintained in England, much of it thanks to active local riding clubs. Saddl lists 31 venues here, 14 BHS-approved, a deep accredited base for a county this size. The commuter-belt money shows in the yards: well-kept arenas, competition livery, dressage and jumping schools that run their own fixtures. Hacking is excellent around Box Hill and the wooded greensand country to the south, and several yards back straight onto open access land. Expect southern prices and busy weekends. Beginners are well catered for, with established schools running children's lessons and adult returners' courses, but the better yards book up, so plan ahead. If you want a quieter ride, the western side towards Hampshire is less trafficked than the suburban north. For competition riders, the concentration of affiliated venues within a short box drive is hard to beat outside the eventing heartlands.
