About this yard
Barnfield Riding School is a BHS-approved riding school and livery yard in Kingston-upon-Thames, with hacking access to Richmond Park. The school has two floodlit all-weather arenas, a horse simulator (Racewood), and offers RDA provision. Riders age and ability from beginner upwards, maximum weight 12 stone / 78kg.
Current prices (effective April 2026): Group 1hr (max 4 riders) £60; Private 30min £50, 45min £60, 1hr £90; Children lead rein 30min £40; Group hack 1hr £60, 1.5hr £90, 2hr £110; Private hack 1hr £90; Pony day full £135, half-day £85; Birthday parties from £85/child. 48-hour cancellation policy. Email info@barnfieldridingschool.org or call 020 8546 3616. A BHS training and exam centre, offering Stage 1, 2 and 3 and Ride Safe courses and exams. Barnfield RDA shares the site, running 1:1 and group sessions for child and adult riders with physical and learning disabilities, supported by experienced volunteers and steady horses.

What to wear
Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.
A correctly fitted hat to current safety standards (PAS 015 or VG1). Bicycle helmets are not permitted. Hats are available to hire, usually reserved for first-time riders.
Boots with a small heel, riding boots, walking boots or wellies all work. Trainers and flat-soled shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs must be covered, no vest tops or shorts. Jackets and coats should be fastened securely. Waterproofs are recommended for outdoor lessons.
Long hair should be tied back in a ponytail before putting on your helmet. All jewellery must be removed before riding.
Clients arriving in unsuitable clothing or footwear may not be permitted to ride, for their own safety. If in doubt, contact the yard before your visit.
