About this yard

Ebony Horse Club is a unique community equestrian charity based in Brixton, operating within the London Borough of Lambeth. Founded to use horses to raise the education, wellbeing, and aspirations of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, the club holds British Horse Society approval. The centre stables up to nine horses and includes a riding arena, paddock, classroom, and changing facilities. Membership is open to young people aged 8 to 18 (up to 25 for those with SEND) who live within two miles of the club. The programme combines riding lessons in dressage, show jumping, and cross country with structured youth work support, a young volunteer scheme, and the broader RIDE programme. Equine-assisted activities form a central part of the therapeutic and educational offer, with horses used deliberately to develop emotional awareness, empathy, and social skills in members who may face significant challenges outside the stable.

Footwear

Boots with a small heel, riding boots, walking boots or wellies all work. Trainers and flat-soled shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.
