About this yard
Mill House Riding Centre sits at Fishburn near Stockton-on-Tees, on 210 acres between Durham and Hartlepool. The yard runs more than 30 well-schooled horses and ponies and is staffed by RDA and BHS-trained instructors. Two indoor arenas (one Olympic size), a floodlit outdoor arena, a large grass jumping paddock and a full-size grass dressage arena support tuition for all abilities. RDA Accessibility Mark sessions are run by trained staff for disabled riders. Group lessons run weekends 9am-4pm and weekdays noon-8pm with a maximum of 8 riders per class. Off-road hacking on the doorstep.

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
