About this yard

Field House Equestrian Centre is a BHS approved riding centre and Pony Club Centre in the Wear Valley, established 2006. Lessons run from beginner basics through to dressage, showjumping and cross-country tuition for more advanced riders. The centre delivers BHS Stage 1, 2, 3 and PTT training, runs Pony Club activities, and operates instructional hacks across the Wear Valley for regular riders. New clients start with a half-hour assessment so the centre can match horse, lesson level and ability before regular lessons begin.

What to wear

Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.

Riding helmet

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.

Footwear

Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.

Clothing

Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.

Hair & jewellery

Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
