About this yard
Lakefield Equestrian Centre at Lower Pendavey Farm, Camelford, sits on 54 acres of north Cornwall countryside and combines an equestrian centre with an on-site campsite. Lakefield is BHS and RDA approved, with riding for all abilities from beginner through to advanced. New experienced riders take an initial 30-minute private assessment and are then placed in a suitable group or continue privately. Indoor and outdoor schools, a showjumping paddock and a cross-country course support the lesson programme. A tack shop on site is run by the people who use the kit day-to-day.

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
