About this yard
Catterick Garrison Saddle Club is an ABRS+ approved livery and riding centre in Catterick Garrison, near Richmond in North Yorkshire, run under the Armed Forces Equine Charity. It serves local military personnel and their families, but livery, training and riding lessons are open to the wider community too.
The centre offers group, private and semi-private lessons from age 5, with pony rides from age 3, using 16 carefully chosen school horses. Facilities include an indoor arena (55m x 40m) described as one of the best in the area, a floodlit outdoor arena (40m x 20m), a full set of showjumps, a working hunter course, a cross-country course, and 24 stables plus 8 stalls. Popular holiday activities include Own-a-Pony days, gymkhanas, hacks and pony pamper sessions.

What to wear

Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.

Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
