About this yard
Camden Equestrian Centre is a specialist harness racing and standardbred stud facility set on 27 acres at Nun Monkton near York. In operation since 2007, it is home to the Camden Standard Bred Stud and the York Harness Raceway, hosting some of the most prestigious races in the British Harness Racing Club (BHRC) calendar. The track has been described as one of the best harness racing facilities in the country. The flagship 70×55m outdoor arena features a top-quality fibre and silica sand surface with a judges' box and full fencing. A 40×40m secondary arena and a half-mile all-weather training track complete the competition infrastructure. Up to 60 stables are available for hire with 24-hour security and bedding provided. The harness racing season runs April to October. Owner Mickey Welling, a former standardbred breeder and harness racing driver, purchased the 28-acre site in 2008; the York Harness Raceway is widely regarded as the premier harness track in England. Alongside its 12-meeting racing calendar, the venue now hires out for equestrian competitions, clinics, dog shows and agility events, with hardstanding and ample parking suited to bad-weather events.

What to wear
