About this yard

The London Horseplay Centre is a registered hub for TheHorseCourse, a nationally recognised equine-assisted learning and behavioural change programme, located on Galley Lane, Barnet, in the London Borough of Barnet. The centre has been delivering TheHorseCourse to young people in Hertfordshire and North London since 2016, led by approved facilitators with extensive equestrian and natural horsemanship experience. The centre's work focuses on horse-based intervention for young people with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, grounded in natural horsemanship principles rather than conventional riding instruction. Engagement is primarily through referral and programme bookings rather than scheduled public lessons. Founded by licensed Parelli instructor Sue Coade in 2016, having trained with the original Dorset programme (used in prisons), the centre is now a registered charity. Referrals come from Social Care, NHS mental health services, schools and offender services for young people with complex needs where talk-based support has not worked. The programme was shortlisted for the People's Projects funding and featured on ITV London News.
