About this yard
Stickney Riding Centre at Highfield House, Main Road, Stickney near Boston was established in 2013 by Sharon Poole BHSAI, a BHS Accredited Professional Coach. It is 5-star licensed and fully insured, teaching riders from age 4 upwards, from complete beginners to advanced.
Lessons run in a floodlit all-weather 20m x 60m arena with a flexi-ride surface, either as private tuition or in small groups capped at 3-4 riders to keep instruction levels high. Teaching emphasises correct position, an independent seat and understanding how the rider's actions influence the horse, and the centre specialises in helping nervous riders regain confidence. Weight limit 15 stone.
It is a Pony Club Linked Centre, and because Sharon is on the BHS register of instructors, lessons can also be given to clients on their own horses, either at Stickney or at the client's own premises. Flatwork, jumping, stable management and BHS qualification training are all offered.

What to wear
Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.
A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
