Ride the Orkhon Valley and Khangai mountains to ancient Karakorum
A horseback trek through central Mongolia's Orkhon Valley and Khangai mountains with Equitours, riding hardy Mongolian horses alongside local herdsmen. The route follows the Orkhon River through a World Heritage cultural landscape to Kharkhorin and the site of the ancient capital Karakorum, visiting the Erdene Zuu monastery, with nights in supported tented camps.
A real trek across open country for fit, adventurous riders. Days are long and the Mongolian horses are small, forward and semi-wild, so you should be balanced and secure at all paces and comfortable camping. Some departures coincide with the Naadam Festival.
