Woodbridge & District Group RDA

Woodbridge & District Group RDA is a self-financing charity established in 1987, based since 2017 at a purpose-built centre, The Bays, in Clopton, Suffolk, officially reopened by HRH Princess Anne as President of the RDA. It provides remedial therapeutic riding, carriage driving and vaulting for children and adults with physical and/or serious learning disabilities, running six days a week, term time, alongside activities suited to young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and adults living with dementia.

Facilities include a 40m x 20m indoor school with an indoor viewing area, an outdoor manège, 12 purpose-built stables, a carriage barn, a horse walker, an under-cover tacking-up area, a superbly equipped vaulting barn, and a community room with a glass viewing area onto the indoor school, a quiet room/classroom, and tea and coffee facilities. Around 12 horses and ponies are kept on site.

Participants up to age 25 may be eligible for funded sessions through Activities Unlimited, and SEND Personal Budgets or an EHCP can also be used to fund places; the centre accepts Suffolk County Council prepaid cards. Joining is via an application form on the website.
