About this yard
TDS Riding Centre at Church Farm, Tong near Shifnal is the home of The Dressage Secret, run by Denise O'Reilly and open to riders of all disciplines, not just dressage. It is licensed by Shropshire Council with 5-star status. The teaching approach centres on addressing rider biomechanics, core stability, postural difficulties and straightness or one-sidedness, to build security in the saddle.
Most lessons are one-to-one, with half-hour private lessons recommended for those new to riding. Riders are taken from age 3, on quiet horses and ponies for beginners through to schoolmasters for experienced riders, with fun days and more intensive courses through the year. Two-hour hacks around the neighbouring Tong Park Farm ride are available to very experienced riders subject to assessment, alongside private, pairs and small group hacks on miles of private off-road tracks and the local bridleway network.
Facilities include an indoor arena, a newly constructed outdoor arena, a dressage arena, grass arena, mini hacking track and a full set of showjumps. Livery options cover part, full, training, schooling, holiday, supported DIY and grass. The non-profit TDS Riding Club offers members discounted lessons, shows and activities.

What to wear
Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.
A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
