About this yard
The Spanish Bit Riding School & Livery is a family-run, BHS and ABRS approved riding school and livery yard at Elm Farm on Dorney Common, between Windsor and Maidenhead, just off junction 7 of the M4. Jill and Keith have run the school for 40 years, with daughter Hayley joining full-time 15 years ago.
Training is offered for all ages and abilities, from half-hour and hour-long private lessons to group sessions, with lead rein pony rides on Dorney Common for complete beginners. It is an official BHS Pony Stars centre for children without their own ponies, and also runs own-a-pony days and children's parties. Full and part livery are available.
Both indoor and outdoor schools are on site. Bookings and cancellations are by phone or voicemail only, with a strict 48-hour cancellation policy for private lessons and 24 hours for group lessons.

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
