About this yard
Shrivenham Equestrian Centre (formerly Shrivenham Station Saddle Club) is based at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, providing riding tuition and livery in a relaxed environment for both military and non-military riders, the centre is explicitly open to members of the general public. Beginners of all ages are welcome, with group, semi-private and private lessons, plus accompanied hacking in the surrounding countryside.
It is a Pony Club centre, giving younger riders the chance to learn horse care and riding without the cost of ownership, and runs pony camps during school holidays. Livery options include full, part, DIY and grass.
The centre now holds charitable status as a subsidiary of the Armed Forces Equine Charity, which helps offset participation costs against local market rates.

What to wear

Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
