About this yard
The Royal Artillery Saddle Club (Larkhill) is a registered charity based at Larkhill Garrison in Wiltshire, offering riding, instruction, competition and livery. It is first and foremost a welfare facility for military personnel and their dependants, but individuals with no military connection may apply to join. Note that membership is required before you can ride a club horse or use the facilities, this is not a drop-in riding school.
Private and group lessons run weekly for adults and children, covering flatwork and jumping in both the indoor and outdoor schools. Competent adult and older child riders can join escorted hacks of one to two hours on Salisbury Plain, with direct access to open country and no road work. Pony days run for children aged 5 and above during school holidays, and the Royal Artillery Cross Country Course is on the doorstep. Working, DIY and full livery are available.

What to wear
Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.
A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
