About this yard
Rowanlea Riding School is a BHS and ABRS approved riding school and livery yard at West Cotside, Barry near Carnoustie in Angus, established in 1965 and run by David Conchie. Group and private lessons run for absolute beginners from age 5 through to adults of varying ability, in a safe, friendly and informal environment. Livery is available for owners.
Facilities include two indoor schools and two outdoor arenas, giving a range of riding conditions year round, plus accessible parking and toilets. Conchie Saddlery adjoins the site. Lessons are booked by phone between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
