Lucknam Park Equestrian Centre is set within the grounds of the five-star Lucknam Park Hotel near Colerne in Wiltshire, offering a level of equestrian infrastructure rarely found alongside hotel accommodation. Riding is available exclusively to hotel residents, welcoming everyone from complete beginners to experienced riders as part of a stay. The centre operates a string of horses covering a full range of riding abilities.
Facilities include an outdoor arena and access to the 500-acre estate for hacking, with routes ranging from short pony trails for children to longer rides across the parkland and woodland. Rides are escorted by experienced staff who provide guidance and assistance throughout. The wider hotel grounds include several restaurants and free parking for residents. For proposals, anniversaries and other occasions worth marking, the centre also runs a dedicated Celebration Ride — a private ride for two across the estate, followed by Champagne and a Polaroid keepsake in front of the Palladian mansion. Available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, from £440, for hotel residents aged 18 and over.

What to wear

A correctly fitted hat to current safety standards (PAS 015 or VG1). Bicycle helmets are not permitted. Hats are available to hire, usually reserved for first-time riders.

Boots with a small heel, riding boots, walking boots or wellies all work. Trainers and flat-soled shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs must be covered, no vest tops or shorts. Jackets and coats should be fastened securely. Waterproofs are recommended for outdoor lessons.
Long hair should be tied back in a ponytail before putting on your helmet. All jewellery must be removed before riding.
Clients arriving in unsuitable clothing or footwear may not be permitted to ride, for their own safety. If in doubt, contact the yard before your visit.
