Harrogate Riding Centre
About this yard
Harrogate Riding Centre has been running from Spring House Farm at Burn Bridge on the outskirts of Harrogate since 1971. It's a substantial operation: 50+ horses and ponies ranging from Shetlands through to Grade A showjumpers, two indoor arenas, a full outdoor competition complex, livery, café and on-site hotel accommodation.
Lessons cover all ages and abilities from young beginners through to advanced competing adults. The centre specialises in large corporate and student groups alongside its regular lesson programme, and runs a full calendar of affiliated and unaffiliated dressage, showjumping and eventing throughout the year. Head coaches Jennifer and Drew have both competed at national and international level, which gives the instruction here more depth than a typical riding school.
For international visitors the centre runs language and riding holidays, combining English tuition with riding instruction, a niche that brings riders from across Europe. Birthday parties are available with pony games, rosettes, pony parlour, quiz and indoor fun zone. The on-site hotel and café make it a practical base for a riding break without needing to self-cater.

Boots with a small heel, riding boots, walking boots or wellies all work. Trainers and flat-soled shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs must be covered, no vest tops or shorts. Jackets and coats should be fastened securely. Waterproofs are recommended for outdoor lessons.
Long hair should be tied back in a ponytail before putting on your helmet. All jewellery must be removed before riding.
Clients arriving in unsuitable clothing or footwear may not be permitted to ride, for their own safety. If in doubt, contact the yard before your visit.
