About this yard
Gul Outdoor Therapy Centre is a registered charity founded in 2003, based at its 19-acre Riverside site between Shrewton and Orcheston in Wiltshire, five minutes from Stonehenge. Its core work is equine-assisted therapy, using 16 ponies alongside horse riding, stable management and outdoor learning, to support health and wellbeing for people facing disadvantage, ill-health, disability or social isolation.
Gul is an Alternative Provision registered with Wiltshire Council, supporting children struggling in mainstream education in partnership with over 85 schools and councils, and also runs adult mental health support, holiday activities, after-school clubs, veteran support, and physiotherapy including lower-back-pain treatment through bareback riding. Open to all ages, all faiths and backgrounds.

What to wear
Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.
A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
