About this yard
Greenacres Stables, trading as Horse Riding Bootcamp, is set on Rock Lane near Lea in Herefordshire, close to Ross-on-Wye. Its signature offering is the "From Scratch" course, a five-day intensive (Thursday to Monday) for absolute beginners aged 17 and up, covering riding at walk, trot and canter, stable management, horse care, road safety and tack, led by two instructors throughout. Weight limit 16 stone.
Beyond the course, the centre offers a range of hacking routes through the Forest of Dean and surrounding countryside, from a 40-minute confidence-building hack for nervous or first-time riders through to longer, more adventurous rides for experienced riders, including a route up to the summit of May Hill. The venue also hosts a Riding for the Disabled Association group.

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
