Glenshiel Highland Pony Trekking is a small family-run centre at Shiel Bridge, at the head of Loch Duich and the foot of the Five Sisters of Kintail. The Campbell family have been breeding Highland ponies in Glenshiel for over 100 years and some of the trekking ponies are direct descendants. Treks are customised to the group with a maximum of six riders, ranging from short rides along the loch shore to full-day rides into the hills.
Open May to September with bed and breakfast accommodation available on site. Spectacular setting on the road to Skye, 17 miles from the Skye crossing, 60 miles north of Fort William and 70 miles west of Inverness.
Pricing
Pony treks £40/person/hour with group discount. Lessons £35 for 45 min (children age 6+). 20-min lead rein for younger children £10. Garron Highland Ponies bred on site by the Campbell family for over 120 years. Open May to September only. Routes: Loch Duich shores, Ratagan Forest, Five Sisters of Kintail.
What to wear

Helmets and boots available.

Riding boots or sturdy boots with a small heel.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs must be covered, no vest tops or shorts. Jackets and coats should be fastened securely. Waterproofs are recommended for outdoor lessons.
Long hair should be tied back in a ponytail before putting on your helmet. All jewellery must be removed before riding.
Clients arriving in unsuitable clothing or footwear may not be permitted to ride, for their own safety. If in doubt, contact the yard before your visit.
