About this yard
Easter Hall Park Riding School sits on 200 acres of farmland and woodland outside Petrockstow, near Okehampton, halfway between Dartmoor and Exmoor. It offers riding lessons for riders from age 3, taught by BHS-qualified instructors and adapted to the individual in small groups or privately, plus a genuine specialism in carriage driving, a discipline rarely offered alongside standard riding lessons. A private access point onto the Tarka Trail gives guests further riding and walking routes across the farm.
The centre is a Pony Club Centre and an NVQ-registered training and assessment centre linked with Haddon Training. Facilities include a large outdoor all-weather school for flatwork, jumping and carriage driving, plus a smaller indoor area. Livery is available on DIY, part, full and retirement bases. Self-catering holiday accommodation in a 300-year-old barn makes it possible to combine riding with a stay in the Devon countryside. Weight limit 14 stone; minimum 24 hours notice for bookings.

What to wear

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
