Devenish Pitt Farm and Stables at Farway near Honiton is a family-run BHS approved riding school and trekking centre in the East Devon AONB. Calm, farm-based environment with gentle instruction, plus quiet countryside hacks ideal for families and mixed-ability groups. Relaxed farm setting with friendly, safety-first instruction. Lovely private bridleways and lanes for easy, scenic hacks. Schooling arena and farm/bridleway access. On-site holiday cottages for riding breaks. Own a Pony half-day sessions available.

What to wear

Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.

Riding helmet

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.

Footwear

Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.

Clothing

Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.

Hair & jewellery

Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
