About this yard
Barrow Hall Stables is a BHS approved riding school and livery yard just outside Bury St Edmunds, offering group and private lessons from age four upwards, plus hacking, clubs and stable management sessions. Family-friendly yard with three arenas, a cross-country course and an all-weather canter track, making it versatile for beginners and riders who enjoy jumping and hacking. Lessons for children and adults from first lead-rein to more advanced schooling. Active in community and SEN riding with strong local reviews. Three riding arenas with jumping and dressage equipment, training paddocks, hats and boots available for riders who don't have kit. The venue also hosts a Riding for the Disabled Association group.

Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
