About this yard
Witney Pony Partners is a Defra-licensed, 5-star rated equitation centre on Crawley Road near Witney, on the edge of the Cotswolds, founded by Liz James in 2014. It follows International Society of Equitation Science principles, teaching riding through biomechanics so horses respond without bits, spurs or whips, and specialises in liberty and free-riding horsemanship.
Sessions start on the ground to build safety and confidence and form a relationship with the pony, alongside a stable management and horsemanship programme for those considering horse ownership or equine work. The centre has become known for supporting children and young adults with anxiety, ASD, ADHD, PDA and other SEN, as well as home-educated students, with alternative education lead Lorraine Spencer bringing a background in childcare and SEN support. Minimum age 3.

What to wear
Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.
A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
