About this yard
Wendlebury Gate Stables is a BHS-approved riding school and livery yard near Bicester in Oxfordshire, set in open countryside with good hacking routes. Lessons for all ages and levels available, with a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. One-to-one instruction from BHS qualified instructors is the centre's main format, on your own horse or a centre horse, catering for children from age 3 through to adult beginners, leisure and competition riders, and those preparing for BHS exams. Pony Care Fun Days run every school holiday, teaching grooming, tacking up and pony care with games, and a small amount of lead-rein riding, for ages 4-12. A well-stocked saddlery and riding clothing shop is on site.

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
