About this yard
Rayne Riding Centre is a family-run, BHS-approved exam and riding centre at Fairy Hall Lane in Rayne near Braintree, Essex, opened in 1982 and run by licence holder Carolyn Pewter. Lessons run for children and adults from complete beginner through to experienced, alongside riding for the disabled, children's riding parties, pony days, jumping and dressage events, and BHS exam training. Maximum rider weight 13.5 stone (85.7kg).
Facilities include a covered arena, two floodlit outdoor arenas and a lunge arena, plus an on-site tack shop and a café where parents can watch lessons. Livery is available, and horses and ponies are sometimes offered for sale.

Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
