About this yard
Parklands Arena (Parklands Equestrian Centre) is a long-established, family-run equestrian centre in Sheffield with over 40 years' experience, founded by Robert and Ruth Sampson. The next generation remains involved, including international showjumper Matthew Sampson. Hundreds of clients are taught each week, from complete beginners through to advanced riders developing flatwork, jumping and dressage.
Facilities include indoor and outdoor arenas plus dedicated jumping and dressage arenas, available for hire as well as lessons. Arena hire and professional schooling/breaking services are also offered to horse owners.

Arena hire: indoor £30/hour (+£5 for lights). Outdoor arenas £30/hour for up to 3 horses, then £10 per extra horse.

What to wear
Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.
A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
