Monty's Equestrian Centre is a licensed riding school near Clacton-on-Sea, just two minutes from the beach with direct access to coastal rides and countryside hacking. Highly qualified BHS instructors offer lessons across all disciplines including showjumping, dressage, western, and bareback. Beach and countryside hacks, Pony Club, and pony days are among the activities on offer. The only riding school in Clacton, a short walk to the beach and central to the local holiday parks. Facilities include a 40m x 40m menage with jumps, and clinics cover in-hand work, flatwork, jumping, cross-country, dressage, bareback riding, archery and stunt riding.

Riding helmet

A correctly fitted hat to current safety standards (PAS 015 or VG1). Bicycle helmets are not permitted. Hats are available to hire, usually reserved for first-time riders.

Footwear

Boots with a small heel, riding boots, walking boots or wellies all work. Trainers and flat-soled shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.

Clothing

Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs must be covered, no vest tops or shorts. Jackets and coats should be fastened securely. Waterproofs are recommended for outdoor lessons.

Hair & jewellery

Long hair should be tied back in a ponytail before putting on your helmet. All jewellery must be removed before riding.
