About this yard
Lochhill Equestrian Centre is a BHS-approved riding school and trekking centre at Lochhill Farm near Ringford in Kirkcudbrightshire, Dumfries and Galloway. Set on a 650-acre estate, it offers trekking and hacking through the beautiful Galloway countryside, schooling, breaking, five-star livery, lessons, arena hire, and horse sales. Founded by Helen Jack in 1999. Minimum riding age is 5. Carriage rides through the picturesque town of Kirkcudbright are also offered.

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
