About this yard
Hooves for Healing is an ABRS+ approved equine facilitated learning centre on the Wirral, Merseyside. Sessions are built around each individual's person-centred programme and can include therapeutic riding, leading, grooming and touching the ponies, alongside creative activities in a purpose-built sheltered outdoor space or paddock. Picture-card and sign-based learning aids are used to support clients who are non-verbal, and gentle physical activity such as walking to collect and return a pony can be built in where appropriate. A Charitable Incorporated Organisation operating since 2016, it is the only equine-assisted learning and therapeutic riding provider on the Wirral, serving 13 local schools alongside justice services, social services and local authorities supporting children in care. Funded in part by the National Lottery Community Fund.

What to wear
Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.
A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
