About this yard
Hockley Equestrian Centre is a family-run, ABRS+ approved riding school in Essex, established in 1982 and run by Sylvia Coombes and Michelle Peacock BHSAI. Qualified tuition is offered in small classes for complete beginners through to advanced riders, plus toddler sessions and pony experiences suitable from age 2. Weight limit 11 stone.
Facilities include two floodlit all-weather menages, jumping paddocks, extensive stabling and numerous grazing paddocks.

What to wear

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
