About this yard
Gransha Equestrian Centre is a BHS-approved riding school and livery yard set in around 42 acres near Bangor in County Down. It offers horse riding lessons for all levels, and hosts dressage, cross-country, showjumping and working hunter competitions. Established by Adrienne Stuart in 1985. Head instructor Alison Barr BHSAI has 40 years' teaching experience; Kirsty and Courtney Stuart are members of the Elite Irish Talent Development squad. Riders welcome from age 5 upwards.

Group lesson (1 hour) £20, (30 min) £15. Private lesson (45 min) £30. Outside regular group times, 2-4 riders: £25 per rider.

A hat to a current recognised safety standard. Requirements can vary, so check with the yard before you ride.
Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
