About this yard

Foxhill's Riding Centre at Beacon Dairy Farm, Doe Bank Lane, Walsall is a long-established (over 50 years) riding school and livery yard at the top of Barr Beacon on the borders of Birmingham, Aldridge and Walsall. BHS approved, ABRS member, Pony Club centre and RDA Accessibility Centre for mild disabilities and SEN children and adults. Private and group lessons from age 4 upwards (max weight 80kg), stable management courses and Pony Club (non-ridden) on Wednesday evenings. School holiday all-day events for children aged 5-15, specialised clinics and evening hacks. 32 stables, 86 acres of grazing, cross country course and 60x20 floodlit menage. DIY, part and full livery. Access to Sutton Park and Cannock Chase for hacking.

What to wear

Riding helmet

A correctly fitted hat to current safety standards (PAS 015 or VG1). Bicycle helmets are not permitted. Hats are available to hire, usually reserved for first-time riders.

Footwear

Boots with a small heel, riding boots, walking boots or wellies all work. Trainers and flat-soled shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.

Clothing

Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs must be covered, no vest tops or shorts. Jackets and coats should be fastened securely. Waterproofs are recommended for outdoor lessons.

Hair & jewellery

Long hair should be tied back in a ponytail before putting on your helmet. All jewellery must be removed before riding.

Clients arriving in unsuitable clothing or footwear may not be permitted to ride, for their own safety. If in doubt, contact the yard before your visit.
