About this yard
Bank House Equestrian is a family-run ABRS+ approved riding school and livery yard in Little Salkeld, seven miles from Penrith in Cumbria. Holds the highest 5-star DEFRA licence rating for facilities and animal care. The centre offers riding lessons, hacking and jumping for riders aged 3 and up, in both an indoor and an outdoor arena, along with a full range of pony club activities for young riders.
Livery options include full, pony and retirement livery with stable and grazing. Bank House also offers accommodation for visitors, static caravans for self-catering and a campsite with shower block, making it possible to combine a riding stay with a break in the Cumbrian countryside.

What to wear

Sturdy boots with a small heel. Trainers and flat, smooth-soled shoes are not suitable for safety reasons. Check with the yard for their exact requirements.
Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs should be covered, and waterproofs are worth having for outdoor lessons. Check with the yard if you are unsure.
Long hair should be tied back before putting on your hat, and jewellery removed before riding.
