RDA Volunteer Programme

Penniwells Riding for the Disabled Centre supports over 130 riders a week and relies on volunteers to run sessions. Volunteers help with leading and side-walking riders, tacking up, grooming, mucking out and general yard support.

You do not need horse experience. Penniwells provides training and welcomes volunteers from age 14 with no upper age limit. Help is most needed Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings between 9.45am and 1pm.

The centre also takes Duke of Edinburgh placements for volunteers already attending regularly, and welcomes people who want to help with fundraising, admin, site maintenance or skilled trades rather than working with the ponies.

Open to volunteers aged 14 and over with no upper age limit. Apply via the form on the Penniwells website. Duke of Edinburgh placements are offered to volunteers already attending regularly.
