Frequently asked questions

Where should I start with the Sit Well Method?
It is recommended to start with the Progress Tests to gauge your current strength, flexibility and posture, then remeasure after 8 weeks. If you already know your posture problem, you can go straight to that section.
How often should I do the programs?
4 or 5 times a week is best to begin with. Once you see changes, you can reduce to 1–2 times per week to maintain. Even 1 session per week is better than none, though progress will be slower.
How long will it take to feel a difference?
Everyone's journey is different, but improvements can happen quickly with consistent practice. Some people have seen massive improvements in just a few sessions on issues they've had for years. Results depend on your background, injury history and how much time you invest.
I'm experiencing pain during the workouts. Should I continue?
If you experience pain during or after the workouts, contact Liana directly. A small adjustment to the exercises you're doing can sometimes make all the difference.
Can I stop seeing my physiotherapist or chiropractor?
If you have acute injuries, continue your treatment. Hopefully over time you will become less reliant on them as the exercises help address the underlying issues.

What to wear

Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.

Riding helmet

A correctly fitted hat to current safety standards (PAS 015 or VG1). Bicycle helmets are not permitted. Hats are available to hire, usually reserved for first-time riders.

Footwear

Boots with a small heel, riding boots, walking boots or wellies all work. Trainers and flat-soled shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.

Clothing

Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs must be covered, no vest tops or shorts. Jackets and coats should be fastened securely. Waterproofs are recommended for outdoor lessons.

Hair & jewellery

Long hair should be tied back in a ponytail before putting on your helmet. All jewellery must be removed before riding.

Clients arriving in unsuitable clothing or footwear may not be permitted to ride, for their own safety. If in doubt, contact the yard before your visit.
